His Excellency the President of Qassim University sponsored the “Ataa” program for international students.
His Excellency the President of Qassim University, Professor Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Shareikh, sponsored the “Ataa” program ceremony for international students, organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs on Monday evening, November 18, 2024. The event was held to mark International Students Day and in observance of the International Day of Tolerance. His Excellency the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fahad bin Sulaiman Al-Ahmad, and a number of college deans attended the ceremony at the Olympic Sports Complex in the University City.
His Excellency the President of the University reviewed the exhibition accompanying the “Ataa” program, which included 13 booths showcasing the university's efforts towards international students and their university lives, along with the services, programs, and activities offered to them by the Deanship of Student Affairs, the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, the Intellectual Awareness Unit, and the Arabic Language Teaching Unit for Non-Native Speakers. In addition, there were 14 booths that presented the heritage and cultures of the peoples represented by scholarship students.
For his part, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fahad bin Sulaiman Al-Ahmad, explained in his speech:
“Today, we meet in the ”Giving" program to celebrate two global occasions that carry noble humanitarian messages: International Students' Day and the World Day for Tolerance. Our dear homeland, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is a homeland of tolerance and coexistence, both locally and globally. It rejects violence and extremism, promotes dialogue among cultures and peoples, mutual human respect, and combats all forms of violence and extremism.
Al-Ahmad added:
“The university currently hosts nearly 100 nationalities from various countries around the world, representing two-thirds of the globe's geography. They are part of our university community, living together under one roof in an environment of tolerance and harmony. Their participation today reflects the beauty of cultural diversity and enhances the spirit of innovation and collaboration. At Qassim University, we are committed to providing them with full support and an integrated academic environment to help them achieve their hopes and aspirations through science and knowledge, enabling them to contribute to the development of their countries and societies.
At the end of the ceremony, His Excellency the President of the University honored a number of distinguished students who received national awards, and who engaged with the various programs and activities organized by the university and represented it in a number of local and international forums and competitions.

The management of grants for non-Saudis at Qassim University is based on the regulation issued by Cabinet Resolution No. (94) dated 29/3/1431 AH, and it pertains to the following:
First: Scholarships are divided into two categories:
- Internal Scholarships: For students residing in the Kingdom legally.
- External scholarships: For students from outside the Kingdom.
Second: Scholarship Objectives:
- Teaching Arabic language and spreading the culture of moderation and tolerance.
- Preparing active specialized scholars within their communities across various disciplines.
- Attracting academically gifted students to achieve diversity and enrich scientific research.
- Establishing scientific and cultural ties with educational institutions, Islamic and scientific bodies worldwide, and documenting them to serve humanity.
- Promoting solidarity between the Kingdom and the countries of the world.
- Introducing students to the Kingdom and the scientific, economic, political, social, and health renaissance it is witnessing.
Third: Admission Requirements:
- Students on internal and external scholarships are subject to the admission requirements applicable to Saudis in institutions of higher education.
- The following are required for the acceptance of external scholarship students:A. The student must be at least 17 years old and no more than 25 years old for the Bachelor's degree and the Arabic Language Teaching Institute or its equivalent, and no more than 30 years old for the Master's degree, and no more than 35 years old for the Doctoral degree. The Board of the educational institution may make exceptions to this.b. The student's home country's government must approve their studies in the Kingdom if it requires such approval for Saudi students.C. The student has not received another scholarship from an educational institution in the Kingdom.d. Certificates and supporting documents must be authenticated by the competent authorities designated by the educational institution.h. Provide a certificate of good conduct from the security authorities in his country.And not be dismissed from an educational institution in the Kingdom.z. The student must be accompanied by a mahram according to the regulations governing this, provided that the mahram is included in the scholarship, has legal residency, or is registered with an employer who requires their services.h. Passing the medical examination prescribed by the regulations and instructions.The board of the educational institution sets the executive regulations for the admission of scholarship students from within the country, taking into account the following:
A. The student must obtain the approval of the guardian they are following to study at the educational institution.
B. The student must be a legal resident of the Kingdom.
Fifth: Scholarship applications
Embassy of the Kingdom and its missions abroad.
B. Higher education institutions in the Kingdom.
Sixth: Scholarship admission procedures:
The Kingdom's embassies and missions abroad receive scholarship applications submitted to them in accordance with the controls approved by the Standing Committee formed in the Ministry of Higher Education. After verifying these applications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs refers them to the Ministry of Higher Education. This process must be completed within the specified timeframes, and admission applications are not accepted outside the agreed-upon deadlines by the Standing Committee.
The Ministry of Higher Education forwards the names of nominated students for study to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so that initial admission procedures for accepted students can be completed through reviewing the Kingdom's representations in their countries to finalize visa procedures.
In the event of scholarship applications being submitted directly to higher education institutions in the Kingdom from abroad, the Ministry of Higher Education, after meeting the regulatory conditions, will send the names of the nominated students to the competent authorities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take the necessary measures for their admission.
VII. Advantages of Scholarships:

The university announces 5 postdoctoral fellowship grants in five fields
The Deanship of Scientific Research announced the availability of five postdoctoral fellowships in collaboration with the Ministry of Education's Research and Development Program, in the fields of Biomedical Science, Medicinal Plants, Cancer Biology, Nanobiotechnology, and Vaccine Development.
The scholarship program aims to increase the level of mobility and research activities at the university. The scholarship study period ranges from two to three years, with the support and supervision of the Ministry's Research and Development Office. The scholarships cover research materials and other related requirements.
The university invites all those interested in applying for these scholarships to review the conditions, fill out the application form, and attach the required documents via the university's website. Thursday, December 19, 1439 AH, will be the last day for applications from those who meet the scholarship conditions and requirements. Priority will be given to Saudis in most cases. Applicants must have completed their doctorate within the last three years, be proficient in English, and have obtained their doctorate from a university recognized by the Ministry.

These grants aim to encourage research teams and interdisciplinary collaboration within the university, to enhance the quality and efficiency of scientific research, to diversify research grant opportunities for faculty members and provide them with more chances to benefit from their scientific expertise, to foster an interactive and competitive environment among researchers at the university and encourage them to strengthen scientific and professional ties, in addition to improving the capabilities of new researchers and postgraduate students and directing their research interests to serve sustainable development issues, and supporting research partnerships with the public and private sectors.
The Deanship of Scientific Research announced that applications for grants are made according to the general conditions for applying for research group grants, which are:
1. The Principal Investigator must be a faculty member at the university and hold an academic rank of no less than Assistant Professor.
2- An associate researcher from outside the university can be involved.
Faculty members are permitted to participate in two research projects per research cycle (academic year), provided they are not the principal investigator in more than one research project.
4. The research proposal should not have been previously submitted for funding to any other entity, nor will it be submitted for funding to any other entity after approval of this funding. The research must also not be derived from a Master's or Doctorate academic thesis or student projects.
5. The research proposal shall not exceed the percentage approved by the Deanship when tested with the Qabas program approved by the Deanship and announced on the Deanship of Scientific Research website.
6. The applicant should not have a stalled research project according to the conditions for stalling research defined by the Deanship of Scientific Research.
7. Applications are submitted through the Deanship's electronic program, the Scientific Research Tracking System (RTMS).
8. The research team's bonus for technically and financially matching the research with the scientific publication of two scientific papers in the latest issue of ISI lists, Scientific Information Institute (ISI) databases published by Thomson Reuters. .
9. Refer to the support of the Deanship of Scientific Research at the university when publishing the research under its official name, Qassim University. .
10 - Research team bonuses for all grants are disbursed according to the unified regulations for scientific research after the contract period ends and the project closure conditions are met.
11- The scholarship duration is one to two years.
12. The research team shall consist of at least three researchers from different and complementary specializations and different departments or colleges, and it is preferable to involve postgraduate students.
13- At least one member of the research team must have prior publications in peer-reviewed and recognized scientific journals.
14. It is required that at least 50 %of the research group members be included in the group's scientific output.
University launches «Promising Scholarship» to support new Saudi faculty members
Qassim University, represented by the Deanship of Scientific Research, has launched a research grant titled «Wa'd,» specifically for new Saudi faculty members who have not been appointed to the rank of Assistant Professor for more than one year. This initiative aims to attract them to an environment of distinguished scientific research by providing financial support and a stimulating environment that contributes to fostering a spirit of competition among researchers.
Dr. Mansour Al-Shreideh, Dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research, explained that the main goal of the grant is to support new researchers at the beginning of their research careers, and to enable the university to discover research talents at an early stage so that they can be a cornerstone of future scientific research. The beneficiaries are Saudi teaching assistants and lecturers who have not been promoted to the rank of assistant professor for more than a year.
The Sherida explained that the scholarship admission requirements include:
Does the date of a decision to appoint as an assistant professor exceed one year when the research proposal is submitted?.
Attach the appointment decision to the proposal.
The research must be novel and not extracted from a Master's or PhD thesis, and must not have been previously completed in whole or in part.
The researcher's commitment that the research topic falls within the priorities of the National Plan 2030.
The researcher's commitment to completing the project and obtaining the required points for the program, which includes:
Attend the Scientific Research Ethics Course (20 points).
Attendance at three specialized or general training courses from the Deanship programs (40 points).
Workshop for presenting project results in coordination with research centers (20 points).
Earn 20 bonus points for publishing a scientific paper in an ISI or Scopus indexed peer-reviewed journal.
Submit the proposal through the RTMS electronic system and sign a contract with the Deanship after fulfilling the conditions.
It was also clarified that the project duration is one year only from the contract signing date, and it is not extendable.
The program aims to enhance the university's research activity, with the support and supervision of the Ministry of Education's Research and Development Office, as the training grants cover research materials and related requirements.
The university concluded by inviting interested applicants to review the conditions and fill out the application form on the university's website, stating that the last day to apply is Thursday, 19/12/1439 AH. It was also mentioned that priority in admission is generally given to Saudis, provided that no more than three years have passed since they obtained their doctorate, with proficiency in English, and that the degree is issued by a university recognized by the Ministry.
