Local start-up assistance
Qassim University provides assistance in the local community to support the start-up of financially and socially sustainable businesses through relevant education and resources. This is demonstrated through mentorship programmes, training workshops and access to University facilities, delivered mainly by the Innovation Incubator of the Innovation and Intellectual Property Center, which also connects promising projects with local investors.
Innovation Incubator 4: mentorship and training
The fourth Innovation Incubator was launched to turn entrepreneurial ideas into start-ups, offering training programmes, mentoring sessions and financial grants. Its three-day hackathon, which ended on 1 February 2025, brought together 350 competitors with more than 100 innovative projects, and gave them intensive mentorship through more than 500 mentoring sessions led by 37 specialists, while projects were judged on criteria including sustainability and economic feasibility. Twelve winning projects were honoured, and 40 projects were selected to enter the incubator’s training camp to build viable business models, with the incubator supporting them in becoming start-ups in four fields: human health, environmental sustainability and basic needs, energy and industry, and future economies.
Training workshops for local artisans and small enterprises
The College of Arts and Design held the conference “Handicrafts in the Age of Digital Transformation”, supporting local artisans in developing sustainable small enterprises. Its sessions and hands-on workshops covered entrepreneurship, digital marketing, business incubators for artisans, intellectual property protection and sustainable practices. Individual artisans presented their products at the accompanying exhibition.
Access to University facilities
The College of Engineering’s Advanced Manufacturing Center, operated with the University’s CODE lab, gives students, industrial partners and community partners access to 3D printers and rapid prototyping equipment.
National recognition
In November 2025 the University was ranked third among 26 Saudi universities for enabling innovation and entrepreneurship, at the Bayan Forum 2025 organised by Monsha’at. In October 2025 it gained full membership of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP).
