Our Scheme
Qassim University provides a comprehensive scholarship scheme to support students from low and lower-middle income countries in completing their higher education. As a public university, it offers scholarship students free study together with a guaranteed package of benefits set by the Statute Regulating Financial Affairs in Universities.
Scholarship Students from Low and Lower-Middle Income Countries
Of the 1,986 international scholarship students at Qassim University, 1,433 (72%) come from low and lower-middle income countries: 872 from 21 low-income countries and 561 from 28 lower-middle income countries. The largest groups come from Sudan, Yemen, Syria, Egypt, Chad and Bangladesh.
What a scholarship student receives
A scholarship student receives free study at the University, along with a monthly allowance equal to that of a Saudi student. Accommodation is provided in University housing, and meals are available at reduced prices. At the end of each academic year, the student is given an economy-class ticket home. Additional allowances include one month’s allowance each year for books, as well as SAR 3,000 for a master’s thesis or SAR 4,000 for a doctoral thesis. The student also receives free medical care, and an excellence award of SAR 1,000 is granted for each academic year completed with a grade of A.
Dedicated Support
The Grant Unit of the Deanship of Student Affairs receives scholarship students on arrival, arranges their visa, accommodation and subsistence, and provides social and medical care to help them settle and succeed in their studies.
Donor funding for scholarship students
The Prince Sultan Center for Studies and Research donated SAR 672,175 to the University’s Scholarships Administration to support international scholarship students.
