Policy addressing poverty
Qassim University participates in policy making at national, regional and local level to implement programmes and policies that end poverty in all its dimensions, in support of the Vision 2030 pillars of a vibrant society and a thriving economy. This is demonstrated through formal partnerships with national bodies and through its Sustainable Development Center, while the University’s initiatives in entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment and community development help put national policy into practice.
National Level: Family Affairs Council
The University signed a memorandum of understanding with the Family Affairs Council, becoming a knowledge and community partner in implementing the National Family Strategy. The partnership supports the economic empowerment of families to reduce household poverty, through joint studies and research on the priorities of the family in the Kingdom.
National Level: National Center for Non-Profit Sector
The University signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Center for Non-Profit Sector, covering capacity building, social innovation, development studies and measurement tools for the non-profit sector.
Regional and Local Level: Sustainable Development Center
The Sustainable Development Center serves as a hub for collaboration between the University and stakeholders across the Qassim region, identifying and meeting the priorities of sustainable local development. Supervised by twelve members from inside and outside the University, it provides research, consulting, training and awareness services.

Qassim University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council for Family Affairs on Monday, May 12, 2025, to enhance cooperation in implementing the council's outcomes and the National Family Strategy initiatives through academic partnership with the university as a community partner. His Excellency the President of the University, Professor Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Sharikh, witnessed on Monday, April 14, 2025, the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the university and the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development. This took place on the sidelines of the Human Capabilities Initiative Conference and the International Education Exhibition in Riyadh. The memorandum aims to leverage the expertise of both parties to enhance the joint development of the non-profit sector ecosystem in the Kingdom and build capabilities.
