Bottom financial quintile student support
Qassim University provides structured programmes to assist students from the bottom 20% of household income in the Kingdom to successfully complete their studies. This is demonstrated through the need-based Student Fund, paid student employment, income-targeted Education Financing with the Social Development Bank, and free postgraduate scholarships.
The Student Fund
Students facing financial hardship apply to the Student Fund of the Deanship of Student Affairs with official documents proving their need. A social worker studies each case, and a committee approves a subsidy suited to the student’s circumstances, so that financial difficulty does not interrupt their studies. The Fund also provides interest-free loans, repaid in small monthly instalments from the student’s allowance, and covers half the cost of medical glasses.
Student Employment
The Student Employment Programme offers paid work in the University’s colleges and departments, helping students overcome the financial problems that could hinder the completion of their studies.
Education Financing with the Social Development Bank
As an accredited partner of the Social Development Bank, the University offers students access to Education Financing, launched in July 2025 to support people with limited income in continuing their education. The financing ranges from SAR 3,000 to SAR 100,000 with no administrative fees, is available to applicants with a monthly income of no more than SAR 14,500, and is released each semester on proof of continued study, directly linking the support to completion. The Bank lists 68 Qassim University programmes as eligible.
The “Ataa” Programme for International Students
The Deanship of Student Affairs held the “Ataa” programme to support international scholarship students from nearly 100 nationalities. Its 13 booths presented the services, programmes and activities available to help them succeed at university, provided by Student Affairs, Admissions and Registration, Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Unit.
Free Scholarships for Postgraduate Students
In March 2025 the University opened applications for 75 postgraduate programmes (19 doctoral and 56 master’s), offering free, competitive scholarships to outstanding students.
Student Fund financial aid
The Student Fund provided SAR 22,150 in direct financial aid to eligible students, following its need-based case assessment, so that financial hardship does not stop them from completing their studies.
