SDG 17.4.2: Education for SDGs: specific courses on sustainability
Qassim University actively embeds sustainability into its curriculum through the "Greening Courses Project," a strategic initiative. This project ensures the integration of SDG concepts across various colleges, rather than relying solely on single courses. Consequently, specialized units are found across disciplines, like the Master of Science in Renewable Energy Engineering. The university also offers courses through its Department of Environment and Natural Resources, focusing on environmental challenges and biodiversity preservation. Furthermore, departments such as Food Sciences and Human Nutrition integrate sustainability into their academic offerings. Within the College of Education, courses include topics like Environmental Awareness and Education and the Concept of Sustainable Development in Educational Curricula. Even disciplines like Sharia and Islamic Sciences incorporate relevant concepts such as Water Management and Drinking Rights in Islam. This holistic approach aims to develop graduates with the skills for sustainable development applications relevant to the regional labor market.
