Commitment to education for sustainable development goals by providing meaningful education
Qassim University demonstrates a strong commitment to education geared towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through several strategic initiatives. This includes integrating the SDGs into curricula and research activities, ensuring sustainability is a cornerstone of its educational programs. The university is actively pursuing the implementation of the “Greening Curricula” project, aiming to embed SDG concepts across various disciplines, thus enabling relevant and effective learning outcomes. To measure this impact, Qassim University has developed a sustainability knowledge and culture assessment tool to gauge students' understanding and attitudes. Through these efforts, the university empowers its graduates with the knowledge, values, and skills necessary to become responsible citizens and contribute to advancing the global sustainability agenda. This integrated approach aligns with its mission to promote scientific research, contribute to sustainable national development, and the Saudi Vision 2030.
Curriculum Greening Project
A strategic project within the Qassim University Plan (2021-2025) that explicitly aims to affirm the university's commitment to making sustainability a cornerstone of its educational programs. The project seeks to integrate sustainability concepts into curricula across at least eight broad knowledge areas in all colleges, ensuring that education is relevant and applicable to all students.
Delegation of the Sustainable Development Center (SDC)
The Center for Sustainable Development was established to ensure the university plays a pioneering role in sustainability. Its mission includes providing high-quality training, information, and awareness services to activate and integrate sustainable development efforts in the Qassim region. This institutional structure and mandate ensure continuous commitment from the highest levels to educate the entire university community, including all students.
Commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education)
Qassim University aligns its educational commitment directly with the fourth United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education). This commitment aims to ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills that support sustainable development, including education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, across all academic programs.
Student participation through innovation and co-development
Fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, where the university supports students' entrepreneurial ideas and innovative projects (such as hackathons) that directly contribute to sustainable development and community service.
