His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Qassim Province, received His Excellency the President of Qassim University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Sharaikh. His Highness received the annual report for 2025 for the Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal Chair for Artificial Intelligence.
During the reception, His Highness was briefed on the report's contents, including the Chair's achievements, its role in implementing distinguished initiatives, and the launch of specialized research grants in vital areas such as human health, environmental sustainability, and future economies, with the participation of over 600 researchers from within and outside the university, in addition to signing several Memoranda of Understanding aimed at strengthening research partnerships and exchanging expertise.
His Highness the Prince of Al-Qassim region affirmed that investing in artificial intelligence is one of the fundamental pillars for building a sustainable knowledge economy, pointing to the importance of employing the outputs of scientific research to serve humanity and achieve a tangible developmental impact that reflects on the quality of life and keeps pace with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. His Highness said: I look forward to my colleagues at the university and specialists for more research and studies, and for coordination with universities and specialized research centers in artificial intelligence, and for highlighting the most important challenges and solutions, especially in the field of what is being published on social media. His Highness added: We are now witnessing suspicious activity and forgery on a daily basis on social media, and it is a national role and a great responsibility for the university and other research centers to make efforts to protect society and future generations from forgery and the distortion of facts, and to pay double attention to such developments in the world of technological and digital media.
His Highness explained that the programs and advanced research initiatives offered by the Chair reflect the vital role that Qassim University plays in supporting innovation, qualifying national competencies, and enabling male and female researchers to contribute effectively to addressing future challenges, emphasizing that artificial intelligence is no longer an option, but a necessity for developing the health, environmental, and economic sectors.
His Highness emphasized the importance of strengthening integration among universities, government entities, and the private sector, which contributes to transforming research into practical applications, supporting data-driven decision-making, and building a research ecosystem capable of competing regionally and internationally.
His Highness the Emir of the Qassim region praised the efforts made in the Artificial Intelligence Chair, appreciating its qualitative research presence, and affirming his continuous support for all that would enhance the region's position as a promising center for research and innovation, and build a future based on knowledge and technology.
His Highness said: I commend and am proud of the efforts of colleagues at Qassim University and the supporting entities; Al Othaim Group, and the team supervising the chair's activities and research, and their efforts in the field of artificial intelligence.
For his part, His Excellency the President of the university, Dr. Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Sharikh, expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Governor of Al-Qassim region for his continuous follow-up of the university's progress, his ongoing support for its scientific and research activities, and his patronage of distinguished initiatives that contribute to empowering researchers and enhancing the environment of innovation. He emphasized that this support represents a doubled incentive to continue developing research programs, expanding partnerships with national and international bodies, and converting scientific research outcomes into practical applications that serve humanity and support development in the region, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
