College of Veterinary Medicine

Veterinary Medicine

Description:

The Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine program aims to graduate professionals equipped with skills that meet labor market demands, contributing to the preservation of livestock and poultry, and protecting humans from zoonotic diseases. In addition to the college's role in applied research that addresses solutions to disease problems, the college plays an active role in community service through the services provided by the University Veterinary Hospital, veterinary convoys, training courses, workshops, and seminars related to animal and bird health and the safety of animal products. The first batch of students was admitted to the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine program at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Qassim for the academic year 1406/1407 AH (1986/1987 AD). The Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine program has been reviewed three times over the past years. The study plan began with the code (بيط) in 1407 AH, then the code (طبي) in 1423 AH, and finally the code (طبب) in 1437 AH. This was to keep pace with the development at the university, global changes in veterinary medicine education, and local and regional updates and requirements. Veterinary Medicine program graduates have excelled in all field areas. A large number of them have obtained Master's and Doctoral degrees from the most prestigious international universities. Some of them are currently faculty members in the program and in other colleges at Qassim University and other Saudi universities. Development and excellence have been a hallmark of the Veterinary Medicine program throughout the years. The Department of Veterinary Medicine received the Qassim University Award for Research Excellence, and the department also received the University Award for Distinguished Research. Department members have participated in most relevant local, regional, and international scientific forums, which has elevated the university's reputation regionally and internationally. As a result, the program was among the first university programs to receive full national accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation for the period from May 2016 to April 2023. Furthermore, full national accreditation has been renewed by the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation for the period from January 2025 to December 2029.
