Mission
Providing a distinguished, advanced and sustainable academic environment that contributes to enhancing the health level of the community by graduating medical competencies, providing consultations and conducting research studies that are scientifically and professionally influential and support innovation and effective partnerships.
Overview
The department plays a pivotal role in providing undergraduate medical curricula, especially in internal medicine and its subspecialties, while contributing to postgraduate training programs through residency and fellowship programs in the Qassim Health Cluster.
Objectives :
- Providing students with basic scientific knowledge in the field of specialization.
- Developing practical and applied skills related to the profession or academic field.
- Promote critical and creative thinking among students.
- Preparing students for the labor market by developing professional and technical skills.
- Instilling professional values and ethics related to the field.
- Encouraging scientific research and participating in research projects.
- Serving the community by providing scientific solutions and community initiatives.
Educational goals:
1. Recognize the causes of various types of diseases and describe their clinical manifestations.
2. Describe the principles of managing various human diseases with a focus on common conditions using a community-based approach.
3. Interpret medical data from patient encounters and master the skills needed to take an appropriate history.
4. Acquire the necessary skills to deal with common clinical issues, including methods of investigation, the most appropriate initial diagnosis, and treatment methods.
5. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team, acquire the communication skills necessary to interact effectively and ethically with patients and the health team, and appreciate the role of others in the delivery of medical services. Demonstrate the ability to learn independently and continuously.
6. Demonstrate proper communication skills among students, colleagues, staff and patients, contributing to better organization of work and knowledge transfer.
7. Optimal use of advanced information resources to update knowledge, thereby improving teaching and patient care (e.g. scientific journals, CD-ROMs, website).
8. Perform a thorough and safe physical examination of patients (taking into account the sequence and comprehensiveness of the examination, taking into account all devices relevant to the medical issue), to determine the symptoms of the disease.
9. Safely use appropriate basic medical diagnostic and intervention procedures in each case.
