Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Technologies
Overview
The Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Technology program was established in the academic year 1438 AH, to be the first specialized PhD program in educational technology at the kingdom level. The program is offered in the form of coursework in addition to a thesis for the doctoral degree. The program's mission is crystallized in “providing academically accredited technical education and preparing distinguished scientific and research competencies in the fields of educational technology, to meet development requirements and the needs of educational and training institutions, according to the best scientific standards, using the latest available scientific and technical methods.” Thereby, it qualifies students to work in many institutions, such as faculty members, and teachers in educational and learning institutions (university/pre-university), researchers in research centers in the field of educational technology/or educational development, trainers in training institutions in the field of educational technology, consultants in providing consultations related to educational technology to relevant parties, or designers and developers in e-learning institutions, whether in universities or Saudi centers.

1. Providing a new vision in educational technology studies, based on the use of the latest technologies in teaching, distance learning, and e-learning systems.
2. Provide the necessary knowledge to qualify students scientifically and practically in the fields of educational technologies.
3. Preparing specialized scientific and professional cadres, and highly qualified, in the applied fields of educational technology.
4. Encouraging scientific competencies to keep pace with the rapid progress of science and technology, pushing them to creativity and innovation, and developing and directing scientific research to address the issues of educational and training environments and the needs of human development in Saudi society.
5. Studying educational issues and phenomena in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and developing solutions for them.
6. Preparing competencies capable of interacting with the requirements of educational environments, ensuring the sustainability of its outputs, to achieve the service of the Saudi society in the present and future.
Providing an opportunity for Master's degree holders to complete their studies and obtain a PhD in Educational Technology.
