His Excellency the President of Qassim University, Professor Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Sharikh, sponsored today, Sunday, April 5, 2026, the sixth edition of the «Wa'i» program for drug awareness. The program is organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs and will last for two days, with the participation of a number of entities. The Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Fahd bin Sulaiman Al-Ahmad, was also present in the main foyer at the university city.
His Excellency the President of the University inaugurated the "Aware" exhibition, which includes 33 booths raising awareness of the harms and dangers of drugs. He reviewed the awareness and prevention services offered by the exhibition's sections, the progress of providing guidance services to university students, reports on guidance services, in addition to the university's efforts in academic and career guidance, and the visual arts booth. Several entities participated, including: Irada Hospital for Mental Health, the Medical City, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Medicine, the College of Languages and Humanities, and some specialized non-profit sector associations.
His Excellency the President of the University also launched the «My Psychological and Social Advisor» platform, a digital counseling service that allows students to access psychological support through their homepage on the myQU system, with the possibility of receiving the service in person or through multiple channels that contribute to ease of access and speed of response.
The exhibition included a section showcasing the university's ongoing efforts in combating addiction, which encompass collaboration with relevant authorities to implement the “Nabih” and “Wiqaya” initiatives, integrating efforts with the National Center for Mental Health Promotion, forming a standing committee for the drug control program under the presidency of the university president, and organizing student programs and activities to raise awareness of the dangers of psychotropic substances.
The university's contributions to supporting scientific and student research in raising awareness of the harms of drugs were reviewed, as well as the development of new service platforms, the provision of training courses, workshops, and awareness campaigns within the university community, the launch of electronic channels for confidential consultations by specialists, and the organization of recreational and sports activities to improve the quality of university student life.
The “Wai” program's tracks included student exhibitions, awareness campaigns, educational lectures, and student initiatives, with the aim of informing students and visitors about the dangers and harms of drugs, the negative impact of their use, and ways to treat addiction, as well as raising awareness on how to prevent and avoid falling victim to their dangers.
