His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, inaugurated the new headquarters of the Center for Sustainable Development at the university today, Thursday, corresponding to 24/8/1439 AH. During the inauguration, His Excellency directed the launch of the Environmental Innovation and Excellence Award for male and female students. His Excellency expressed his admiration for the center's departments, which have taken into account many requirements that align with the nature of the center's objectives. He reviewed exhibits of wild seeds, treated water, types of wild firewood, and healthy, clean "organic" vegetables, which added a present mental connection to the headquarters. .
"Al-Dawood" met with the members of the Executive Committee and praised the achievements of the center during the current year, including the preparation of tender documents for the implementation of a package of strategic plan projects for the university directly related to the developmental and investment frameworks in the Qassim region. He expressed his hope for the success of these projects, due to the continuous support the center receives from His Highness and the membership of a number of prominent members from inside and outside the university, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz.
For his part, the Director of the Sustainable Development Center, Professor Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Rabdi, affirmed that among the center's achievements is the establishment of the Voluntary Sustainability Unit. He pointed out that the center received direct support from His Excellency the President to establish a Sustainable Development Award specifically for university students, directed along several tracks, which will be announced at the beginning of the next academic year.
The 11th Executive Committee meeting was also held during the center's inauguration. It addressed the planned scientific events, the community services provided by the center, and the field visits undertaken by the Executive Committee members to explain the center's vision, mission, objectives, and initiatives in sustainable development. Future projects for the center were also discussed.
