The medical city at Qassim University successfully performed a rare surgical procedure on a patient in his sixties who suffered a spinal fracture as a result of a fall from a high place. The case was received urgently, and the necessary clinical examinations and X-rays were performed, which revealed an unstable fracture requiring surgical intervention.
The medical team, led by Dr. Abdullah Al-Saeed, a consultant in spinal surgery, successfully performed the operation using the minimally invasive spinal surgery technique. This is considered one of the modern and advanced techniques, as it is performed through small incisions without the need for a wide surgical opening. This contributes to preserving the integrity of the surrounding muscles and tissues, reducing blood loss and post-operative pain, in addition to accelerating the recovery period and enabling the patient to return to movement and activity faster.
The procedure was successful, praise be to God, and the patient was able to return to his daily activities and be discharged from the hospital within two days. He is currently in stable health.
