The university achieved 153rd place globally and 2nd place nationally in the 2022 Green Metrics International Sustainability Ranking, out of 1050 local and international universities. This recognition is for its commitment to comprehensive institutional and environmental sustainability principles academically, socially, and economically, maintaining its advanced global standing in the ranking.
This achievement underscores the university's continuous progress in various international rankings over a short period, as the university continues its ascent to several advanced positions in the ranking through 6 key criteria, including infrastructure, energy and climate change, water treatment, waste treatment, transportation, and education, achieving high scores. In the water treatment criterion, it secured the 26th position among universities and received a full score in this criterion. In waste treatment, it achieved the 52nd position, securing first place in both axes locally, through the integration of efforts aimed at elevating the university's standing both locally and globally.
It is mentioned that Qassim University launched, as part of its strategic plan, a program focused on sustainability that encompasses a package of projects in development and sustainability, such as the Sustainable University, Greening Curricula, and Greening Scientific Research, among others. Through these projects, the university seeks to achieve a number of results and indicators by the end of 2025, in alignment with the Kingdom's sustainability and greening program objectives, and to contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
