Qassim University won a gold medal and three silver medals at the 51st edition of the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from March 11 to 15, 2026. The university participated as part of the Ministry of Education's pavilion, which showcases the innovations of Saudi universities at this exhibition. The event is considered one of the largest global exhibitions specialized in innovation, with over 1000 inventions and innovations from more than 40 countries worldwide.
The innovation of lightweight polymer concrete using date cores and ash, prepared by the project team consisting of Dr. Ahmed bin Dakhil Allah Al-Mutairi and Dr. Munir Qaid Saeed, received the gold medal with honors, while the innovation of an intelligent system for detecting cyber attacks in cloud environments, by Dr. Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Dreebi, received the silver medal.
The engineer Turki bin Abdullah Al-Muhsin received a silver medal for his innovation of a smart device for automated medication regulation and dispensing. Similarly, the project team consisting of students Azzam Ibrahim Al-Sam'ani, Ali Suleiman Al-Rashed, Abdulrahman Abdullah Al-Namlah, Bassam Khalifa Al-Khalifa, and Haitham Shafaaqa Al-Anzi received a silver medal for their innovation of a smart device for instant urine analysis using nanotechnology and artificial intelligence.
The university's participation in this exhibition is an extension of its role in supporting the innovation, research, and development ecosystem, enhancing its scientific presence in international forums, and showcasing its research and technical outputs that contribute to finding innovative solutions in the fields of cybersecurity, healthcare, and sustainable engineering. These international participations reflect the environment that supports scientific and creative excellence within the university and contribute to highlighting the capabilities of its staff and students in the fields of innovation.
This also comes as part of the university's efforts to empower researchers and innovators and transform their research outputs into applicable innovations, contributing to the promotion of the knowledge economy and raising the university's research competitiveness.
The university's pavilion at the exhibition received significant attention from visitors and several official visits, including a visit by His Excellency the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Swiss Confederation, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Arkan Al-Dawood, and the head of the delegation for the education and training system at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Adel bin Sulaiman Al-Furaih, as well as a number of leaders. They were briefed on the participating innovations and the promising research and creative capabilities they reflect from the university's faculty and students.
