Qassim University won a gold medal and three silver medals at the 51st edition of the Geneva International Inventions Exhibition, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from March 11 to 15, 2026. The university participated within the Ministry of Education's pavilion, which showcases innovations from Saudi universities at this exhibition, considered one of the largest global exhibitions specialized in innovation. The event featured over 1,000 inventions and innovations from more than 40 countries worldwide.
[The innovation of lightweight polymer concrete using date pits and ash, prepared by the project team consisting of Dr. Ahmed bin Dakhil Allah Al-Mutairi and Dr. Munir Qaed Saeed, won the gold medal with honors. The innovation of an intelligent system for detecting cyber attacks in cloud environments, by Dr. Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Dreebi, won the silver medal.].
Engineer Turki bin Abdullah Al-Muhsin's innovation of a smart device for automated medication dispensing and regulation received a silver medal. Similarly, the innovation of a smart device for instant urine analysis using nanotechnology and artificial intelligence, by the project team comprising students Azzam Ibrahim Al-Somaani, Ali Suleiman Al-Rashed, Abdulrahman Abdullah Al-Namlah, Bassam Khalifa Al-Khalifa, and Haitham Shafqa Al-Enezi, also received a silver medal.
The university's participation in this exhibition is an extension of its role in supporting the innovation, research, and development ecosystem, enhancing its scientific presence in international forums, and showcasing its research and technical outputs that contribute to finding innovative solutions in the fields of cybersecurity, healthcare, and sustainable engineering. These international participations reflect the environment that supports scientific and creative excellence within the university and contribute to highlighting the capabilities of its faculty and students in the fields of innovation.
This also comes as part of the university's efforts to empower researchers and innovators and transform their research outputs into applicable innovations, contributing to strengthening the knowledge economy and enhancing the university's research competitiveness.
The university's pavilion at the exhibition garnered significant attention from visitors and received a number of official visits. These included a visit from His Excellency the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Swiss Confederation, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Arkan Aldaoud, and the head of the Ministry of Education's Education and Training System delegation, Dr. Adel bin Sulaiman Al-Faraih, along with several other leaders. They were briefed on the showcased innovations, which reflect the promising research and creative capabilities of the university's faculty and students.
