Qassim University obtains a patent for a water desalination system using a salt plant.
Qassim University has obtained a patent from the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property for its invention of a "system and method for desalinating water using a salt-bearing plant." This system uses a closed biological system that can convert highly saline water into distilled fresh water. The system operates normally and can produce fresh water in commercial quantities.
The Emir of Qassim Region inaugurates and lays the foundation stone for 66 water and environmental projects at a cost exceeding 4.2 billion riyals.
His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Qassim Region, inaugurated (21) water and environmental projects today, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng.
