SDG 17.4.1:Education for SDGs commitment to meaningful education
Qassim University demonstrates a strong commitment to meaningful education for the SDGs through several strategic initiatives. This involves embedding the Sustainable Development Goals into the curriculum and research activities, ensuring sustainability is a cornerstone of its educational programs. The university actively pursues a "Greening Courses Project" to integrate SDG concepts across various disciplines, thus delivering relevant and effective learning outcomes. To measure this impact, Qassim University developed a Sustainability Literacy and Knowledge Assessment Tool, evaluating students' comprehension and attitudes. Through these efforts, the university equips graduates with the necessary knowledge, values, and skills to act as responsible citizens and advance the global sustainability agenda. This integrated approach aligns with its mission to strengthen research and contribute to sustainable national development and Saudi Vision 2030.
Greening Courses Project
A strategic project within the Qassim University Plan (2021-2025) explicitly aiming to affirm the university's commitment to making sustainability a cornerstone of its educational programs. This project is designed to integrate sustainability concepts into the curricula across at least eight broad knowledge areas in all colleges, ensuring the education is relevant and applicable to all students.
Sustainable Development Center (SDC) Mandate
The SDC is established to ensure the university achieves a leading role in sustainability. Its mission includes providing high-quality training, information, and awareness services to activate and integrate sustainable development efforts in the Qassim region. This institutional structure and mandate ensure a continuous, top-down commitment to educating the entire university community, including all students.
Commitment to SDG 4 (Quality Education)
Qassim University directly aligns its educational commitment with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education). The goal is to ensure all learners acquire the knowledge and skills to support sustainable development, including through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, which applies to all academic programs.
Student Engagement via Innovation and Co-development
Promotion of a culture of collaboration and innovation where the university supports students' entrepreneurial ideas and innovative projects (e.g., Hackathons) that directly contribute to sustainable development and community service.
