The university launched the first training camp for the “Innovation Incubator” program in its fifth edition, which is currently hosted by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). This is part of the second phase of the program's journey, following the conclusion of the hackathon phase hosted by Qassim University. The event was attended by a group of innovators and entrepreneurs from various regions of the Kingdom.
The innovation incubator is considered one of the distinguished initiatives implemented by Qassim University to support the innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer ecosystem. It goes through four main stages: hackathons, training bootcamps, judging, and an innovation exhibition, with the goal of empowering innovative projects and accelerating their readiness for growth and expansion.
The fifth edition of the program witnessed a wide turnout, as the incubator attracted more than 1,200 applicants, of whom more than 450 qualified to participate in the training camps. The first training camp includes more than 60 participants representing promising innovative projects in a number of fields.
The camp is held at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) for five days and represents the first of three training camps included in the program, as part of an integrated development and qualification journey that aims to raise the readiness of innovative projects, enable them to compete, and attract investment opportunities.
The camp includes an intensive training program consisting of specialized workshops, mentoring and consulting sessions, and meetings with a select group of experts, entrepreneurs, and investors. Additionally, there will be intensive programs for developing business models, validating market needs, building minimum viable products, and enhancing investment readiness, all contributing to the development of participants' skills and the preparation of their projects for the subsequent stages of the program.
This camp is organized as an extension of the strategic partnership between Qassim University and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), with the participation of a number of success partners in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. This reflects the integration of national efforts in supporting innovators, accelerating the growth of entrepreneurial projects, and contributing to the achievement of the goals of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
