On Monday, September 28, 2026, His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mashal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Amir of the Al-Qassim Region, presided over the celebration of Al-Qassim University on the occasion of Saudi National Day, which was held at the King Abdulaziz Conference Center in the University Campus, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Fahd bin Saad bin Faisal bin Saud, Deputy Amir of the Region, His Excellency the President of the University, Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Sharkh, and the university’s vice presidents, deans of the colleges and departments, and university students and staff.
His Highness the Amir of the Al-Qassim Region praised the events included in the celebration, which reflect pride in national identity and recall the journey of unifying the Kingdom and building it, stressing that the National Day is an occasion to reflect on the achievements achieved for the country, and to draw inspiration from the values of determination, loyalty, and hard work embodied by the founder King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud – may Allah have mercy on him – and to continue contributing to the development and prosperity of the country under the wise leadership.
His Highness noted the university's initiatives and quality programs that contribute to strengthening students' national identity, developing their capabilities, and connecting their knowledge and skills with the needs and aspirations of the nation, pointing to the importance of the role of universities in building human beings, consolidating awareness, and preparing generations that are proud of their identity and actively participate in shaping the future of their homeland.
For his part, His Excellency the President of the University, Professor Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Sharakh, affirmed that on this glorious occasion, we remember what the founding King and his loyal men did to build this great entity so that the sons of this nation can compete with the world for progress and hold on to their identity. He pointed out that the development journey encompassed all parts of the country, and emphasized that the university is part of this journey, deriving its success from the success of the country and working to fulfill its mission in education, research, innovation, and sustainable development.
During his speech, the university president noted the new global progress achieved by the university, where it retained the first place nationally in the GreenMetric UI ranking of sustainable universities 2026 for the fourth consecutive year and advanced to the thirty-ninth place globally among more than 2,000 universities and educational institutions worldwide to be the only Saudi university among the top 100 universities, noting this achievement that reflects the development of performance in the field of sustainability and the effectiveness of the initiatives adopted by the university both environmentally and academically to enhance the efficiency of resource use and support sustainable development.
The university president reminded the students that they are the soul of the nation and its beating heart, urging them to be proud of their authentic nature, to hold on to Islamic values, and to take from their parents and grandparents the truth of belonging, the strength of determination, and the passion for achievement, so that the construction can continue and they can create the future.
His Highness also extended his sincere congratulations on this precious occasion on behalf of himself and the staff and students of the university, to His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, May Allah preserve them, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Mashal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, praying to God to protect our country from all evil and to keep the banner of security and prosperity in it, and to make it a beacon of pride and harmony.
His Highness the Amir of the region opened the exhibition in celebration of the occasion, which focused on the history of the unification of the Kingdom, the life of its founder, the achievements of its kings, the developmental transformations under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince, and the pillars of Vision 2030 for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, alongside highlighting the developmental renaissance in the Al-Qassim region, the institutional excellence of Al-Qassim University, and its scientific, research, and innovative achievements.
During the ceremony, His Royal Highness watched a visual presentation that highlighted the university’s most notable achievements, a national opera, and listened to a national poem as part of the celebration. His Royal Highness also honored the ranking team for achieving the first place nationally and 39th globally in the “UI GreenMetric 2026“ ranking, among more than 2,000 universities and educational institutions from various countries around the world. The honor also included the ”QSpark“ project team, which achieved the first place globally in the “WSIS 2026” World Summit on the Information Society award, and the team overseeing the achievement of 68 international and national student achievements in various fields, in addition to honoring the leadership of the university who were terminated from their positions for their efforts during their tenure at the university.
