The incubator “Ibtekar” was launched on the evening of Thursday, May 14, 2026, in its fifth edition, organized by Qassim University, represented by the Innovation and Intellectual Property Center. The incubator includes mentoring sessions, workshops, and an evaluation of research projects, with the participation of 230 teams and more than 700 male and female participants from various cities in the Kingdom, held in the main lobby of the University City.
The innovation incubator is part of the university's efforts to promote the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, in partnership with national entities and supporting private sector entities, contributing to the integration between academic knowledge and market needs. The participation came in four areas: human health, leadership in energy and industry, environmental sustainability and basic needs, and the economies of the future.
The fifth iteration of the incubator witnessed the participation of 27 universities and 51 entities, embodying integration between stakeholders. They competed with ideas holding promising future opportunities, underscoring the incubator's broad national presence. Additionally, 440 innovative ideas were presented within the innovation track, indicating the extent of creative momentum within the incubator and the growing interest and confidence in the incubator and its qualitative programs.
The innovation incubator has become a national platform that brings together innovators from various regions of the Kingdom, with broad participation from over 19 cities, reflecting the incubator's extensive national impact and its contribution to building a national environment that unites minds and ideas to create future solutions. The diverse participation from different regions of the Kingdom also reflects the growing culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. The incubator represents a national model for the integration of universities and supporting entities in empowering innovators, and it highlights the role of Saudi universities in supporting the transition towards a knowledge-based economy.
The incubator's importance stems from the diversity of participating projects that are launched from national needs and contribute to building solutions with economic and societal impact, leading to growing interest in innovation and entrepreneurship in the Kingdom, as one of the main drivers of the future of development.
The incubator is one of the university's initiatives aimed at fostering a spirit of competition and raising the level of ideas and projects. This is achieved by offering various programs, meetings, workshops, and mentoring sessions at different stages, contributing to transforming these projects into promising products of economic value, thereby supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship index and contributing to achieving Saudi Vision 2030.
