His Excellency the President of Qassim University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Sharekh, and the CEO of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of South Africa, Dr. Thulani Dlamini, signed a draft executive program between the university and the Council in the field of scientific research and innovation, in the presence of the university's vice presidents at the University City.

The project aims to cooperate in research, development and innovation projects in advanced technologies prioritized by both parties, exchange researchers and experts in areas of common interest, especially in the fields of space and defense, activate the "Space and Defense Research Program" as a main platform for joint activities in the field of research and innovation, cooperate in human capacity building programs and training of technical and research cadres, in addition to cooperation in technology transfer and commercialization of research and industrial outputs, mutual use of research facilities and scientific data to serve joint projects, and joint supervision
