Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Qassim Region, His Excellency the President of Qassim University, Professor Dr. Muhammad bin Fahd Al-Sharikh, today, Monday, January 26, 2026, inaugurated the activities of the «Second International Conference on Natural Resources Sustainability,» under the slogan: Towards Rational Consumption of Resources and Spending Efficiency. The conference, organized by the College of Business and Economics, will take place over two days, with the attendance of university vice-presidents and the participation of 39 speakers at the King Abdulaziz Convention Center in the university city.
His Excellency the President of the University expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Governor of the Qassim region for his patronage of this conference, which aims through its scientific and dialogue sessions, to deepen the discussion on natural resource sustainability. He also offered thanks and appreciation to all supervisory and organizing committees, speakers, and experts for enriching the scientific sessions of the conference.
“Al-Sharikh” attended the exhibition accompanying the conference, which included the participation of a number of governmental, private, and non-profit entities. The exhibition featured several research posters presented by male and female university students. He praised the quality of the research efforts, ideas, and economic solutions presented for the sustainable preservation of natural resources.
For his part, Dean of the College of Business and Economics, Dr. Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Fahied, stated that this year's conference is witnessing distinguished scientific participation, as it received a large number of scientific papers that underwent peer review, resulting in the acceptance of a number of them for participation, in addition to a select group of speakers and experts from inside and outside the Kingdom in scientific and dialogue sessions to review experiences, exchange knowledge, and discuss challenges and opportunities in light of the vision, which reflects the growing scientific status of the conference.
He emphasized that the convening of this conference comes at a critical time, as societies face accelerating economic challenges related to the scarcity of natural resources, climate change, and the efficient use of energy and water. He pointed out that this conference affirms the university's scientific and societal role, and its endeavor to be an effective platform for constructive dialogue, exchange of expertise, and the presentation of innovative solutions that contribute to supporting decision-makers and promoting sustainable development.
The conference will feature 11 dialogue and scientific sessions with 39 speakers, in addition to the presentation of research posters by male and female students, as well as by participating entities from inside and outside the university.
His Excellency the President of the University honored, following the opening ceremony, the participating entities, the speakers, the heads of the scientific sessions, and the scientific committee.
