UQU Medical City performs the first robotic knee replacement surgery

The medical city at Qassim University performed the first robot-assisted knee replacement surgery for a patient suffering from severe grade four knee osteoarthritis.

The procedure was performed using Robotic Total Knee Arthroplasty, one of the latest advanced surgical systems. It provides a high level of precision in planning and execution during surgery, which contributes to improving joint replacement outcomes, enhancing surgical efficiency, reducing blood loss, and accelerating the recovery period. This helps the patient regain their mobility in a shorter time compared to traditional surgeries.

The medical team was led by Dr. Abdullah Al-Shahrani, Consultant Orthopedic and Joint Surgery, with the participation of the anesthesia team led by Dr. Omar Al-Musnad, Consultant Anesthesiologist, in addition to the assistant nursing staff.

The implementation of this procedure is a new step in the path of developing surgical services at the Medical City, reflecting its readiness to apply modern technologies within the healthcare system.
