The university team won the championship cup of the Saudi Universities Sports Federation for futsal, within the competitions of the sixth gathering of the championships of the Federation of Universities, which was held in the sports halls at the university headquarters, under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation, Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa, with the participation of 25 universities and colleges from all over the Kingdom, where the university team repeated its achievement for the second time in the history of the tournament, which is held for the fourth time in a row, and the Jazan University team finished in second place, Taibah University came third, while Hail University was satisfied with the fourth place in the championship in the tournament.
In the presence of Dr. Ali Al-Aqlaa, Dean of the Deanship of Student Affairs at the university, and Dr. Fahad Al-Dhale, Vice Dean for Activities, the President of the Universities Union, Dr. Abdullah Al-Buqami handed over the first place trophy and gold medals to the winning teams, led by the Qassim University team, which defeated the University of Hail team with a score of 6 goals against one goal in the final match that took place between them on Saturday morning in the sports hall of the university city, to be crowned champion of the fourth edition of the football tournament (five-a-side), which was hosted by the university over four days from 26-29 March this year.
The team's players started their training for the tournament about two months ago, following the completion of the sports activity activities of the internal university championship for futsal, which was won by the College of Education and in which 23 colleges participated, after which the team members representing the university team were selected by the university's sports activity officials.
The draw placed the university team in the third group with the teams of King Saud University, Umm Al-Qura University and Shaqra University, to take first place in the group after winning its three matches, the results were 2-1 against King Saud University, 2-0 against Umm Al-Qura University, 4-0 against Shaqra University, then the team advanced to the round of 16 to meet the team of Mohammed bin Fahd University and beat it with a score of 52, to advance to the round of eight and meet the team of Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University and win it with a score of 2-0, and in the semi-final match of the championship defeated the University of Hail with three goals against two goals, and then ascended to the championship final and faced Jazan University and defeated it with a score of 6-1, to win the championship cup.
