The President of Qassim University, Professor Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Sharikh, affirmed that the ninety-fourth anniversary of the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the hands of His Majesty King Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him – is a cherished occasion during which we recall a glorious and immortal day, which crowned the efforts of establishment that spanned more than thirty years. During this time, lives, wealth, and time were sacrificed for the sake of building a firm and great nation, which includes the holiest places, the richest oases, and the most valuable resources, and above all, the most precious human beings. The region was transformed from discord to cohesion, and from strife to cooperation, united under one banner, ruling with justice, consultation, and equality in accordance with Islamic Sharia.
The President of Qassim University explained that the fruit of that day came after years of civil progress, in which the Kingdom stood among the major countries leading the world, praise be to God. He pointed out that future generations will only comprehend this epic by reading history, listening to narratives, and comparing the state of the country before and after unity. He emphasized that this will lead them to understand that the security, safety, development, and modernization we experience today are the result of great effort and immense sacrifices, instilling in them pride in their national identity and its glorious history.
He added: These great achievements we are witnessing today are but the fruit of that authentic planting that led to comprehensive civilizational progress in the political, economic, social, scientific, industrial, and other fields. If we refer to education in general, and higher education in particular, we find that universities are making qualitative leaps and achieving tangible progress, competing with the most prestigious universities in the world in scientific, research, and applied fields.
“Al-Sharikh” pointed out that, praise be to God, Qassim University is progressing with this constellation and achieving honorable successes at the local, regional, and global levels at an accelerating pace. Over the past year, it has accomplished many developmental steps, including comprehensive restructuring, improving its organizational, educational, and research environment, and forming partnerships with state sectors. The most recent of these, for example, include: signing a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources to establish a drone systems factory, and signing a cooperation agreement with the Armed Forces Hospital in Qassim in the fields of research, science, and training. It has also contributed to and participated in environmental preservation and sustainable development, among other achievements.
The university president affirmed that all these achievements come in response to the vision of the state - may God protect it - which seeks to empower Saudi individuals to keep pace with global development in the fields of science, research, and training, so that they may be active participants in the growth of the modern world. He explained that this is the true representation of the strong will, sincere determination, and certain desire that the people of this nation draw from their wise leadership, which drives them towards a path of progress, competition, and development, from the era of the founding King Abdulaziz - may God have mercy on him - to this prosperous era.
His Excellency the President of the University, in his name and on behalf of all university faculty, staff, male and female students, extends congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz (may God protect them from all evil), and to His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Qassim Region, and his Deputy, His Royal Highness Prince Fahd bin Turki bin Faisal bin Turki bin Abdulaziz (may God protect them). He supplicates the Almighty God to perpetuate the banner of glory for us and protect our country from all harm, for He is All-Hearing and All-Answering.
