Qassim University, represented by the College of Engineering, signed a cooperation agreement with Saudi Telecom Company in the Qassim region at the college campus yesterday.
The agreement, signed by the Dean of the College, Dr. Fahd bin Abdul Rahman Al-Mufadi, and the Director of Saudi Telecom Company in Al-Qassim, Dr. Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al-Nasser, aims to foster cooperation between the two parties in several areas. Foremost among these is focusing on graduation projects that address issues of mutual interest in the field of electronics and telecommunications engineering. This also includes collaboration in specialized scientific research in electronics and telecommunications engineering. In addition, faculty members specializing in technical consulting will be utilized. Furthermore, the cooperative training program for students of the Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering department at the university will be enhanced through an integrated program covering various stages and technologies available at the company. The agreement also entails contributing to the development of the laboratories for the Telecommunications Engineering department by equipping them with appropriate tools, in addition to involving a number of college students in the “Toastmasters” program offered by the company in collaboration with the international organization Toastmasters.”
The two sides discussed the importance of public-private community partnerships and the benefits they can yield for society and university students specifically. .
For his part, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Salim Saleh Al-Saleem, affirmed that the memorandum of understanding is an initiative by the College of Engineering at the university and Saudi Telecom Company in the region. Through it, we seek to connect, train, and qualify students for the labor market and prepare them to integrate into it by exposing them to and training them on the latest technologies used in the labor market, and to improve and develop the educational environment for college students to be a stimulating environment for innovation and creativity. These main objectives are among the most prominent strategies of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and its byproduct, the National Transformation Program 2020. Added to these objectives are other equally important objectives, such as supporting faculty members and encouraging them to conduct scientific research focusing on the latest technologies used by telecommunications companies in their field.
The company provides annual cooperative training for a number of engineering students and also receives students for field visits periodically, indicating that cooperation between the two sides has been ongoing.
