His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Sharekh, crowned the winners of the "Athr Volunteering Competition". The competition, which was held in cooperation with the Youth Impact Council under the Misk Community Track, was attended by the UQU Vice President for Financial and Technical Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Saawi, and the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Fahad Al-Ahmad, on Monday morning, May 6, 2024, at the main headquarters of the University City.
Various university entities participated in the competition to implement the best volunteering opportunity on the Saudi and International Volunteer Day, with the initiatives being judged and the winners nominated by the Misk Foundation.
His Excellency the President of the University also honored the University Branch in Riyadh Al-Khubairah Governorate, which won first place through the initiative of equipping libraries in the Buraidah Prison Administration (libraries are better and longer), and the College of Nursing, which came in second place through the "Her Health is a Life" exhibition. He also honored the College of Engineering at the University Branch in Onaiza Governorate, which won third place by implementing the application of sharing surplus personal belongings (Wafer), and the College of Applied Medical Sciences at the University Branch in Al-Rass Governorate came in fourth place with its initiative on raising awareness about primary recycling of plastic and limiting its use in college, and in fifth place the College of Business and Administration.
The competition was participated in by 19 university entities (faculty members and employees) from different cities and governorates of Qassim, through 145 volunteers, and 6000 beneficiaries benefited from the voluntary services provided during one day. This competition aims to motivate university entities and their affiliates to volunteer work, develop and enable volunteers to give and achieve, highlight their energies and talents, spread and promote the culture and behavior of voluntary work in the community, encourage the innovation of voluntary ideas and use them in serving the community, and develop the efficiency of teamwork in volunteering.
