Yesterday, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, the university hosted the 37th meeting of the deans of dental colleges in the Kingdom, with the participation of the Education and Training Evaluation Authority, in the presence of the deans of 16 colleges in the Kingdom, at the conference center in the university city, where His Excellency the Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Fahad Al-Ahmad, opened the meeting with a welcoming speech, wishing success to the deans, and praising the various topics of the meeting.
During the meeting, the deans of dental colleges in the Kingdom discussed a number of common topics, including updates on dental program accreditation, mechanisms of cooperation between universities and the health sector, reviewing the agenda and opening the door for discussion. The meeting also witnessed a presentation by the Executive Director of the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment, Prof. Mohammed Bashmakh, a visual presentation on the university and its achievements, and an introductory tour for the visiting delegations to the facilities of the university city.
For his part, the Chairman of the Committee of Deans of Dental Colleges in the Kingdom, Dean of the College of Dentistry at King Abdulaziz University, Prof. Dr. Abdulghani Merah, praised the outcomes of the meeting, which is considered an extension of the committee's meetings and meetings as a consultative committee represented by all Saudi dental colleges, noting that the committee specializes in everything related to dental education, its curricula and training of male and female students.
For his part, the Executive Director of the National Center for Academic Assessment and Accreditation, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Bashmakh, explained that the meeting reviewed the most prominent initiatives of the Center for Academic Assessment and Accreditation as one of the centers of the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, which is concerned with controlling and ensuring the quality of higher education outputs.
He stressed that the center is a partner for various colleges and academic programs, with the aim of improving the outputs and quality of the educational process in various public and private colleges and universities.
Dr. Ali Al-Enezi, Dean of the College of Dentistry at the University, said that during the meeting, the deans discussed the obstacles that may face students and graduates of dental colleges in communicating with the relevant authorities to facilitate finding solutions to them. He appreciated the participation of the Executive Director of the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment, where the meeting discussed the controls and mechanism of programmatic accreditation for dental colleges to ensure the quality of outputs and prepare graduates for the labor market and provide all training and academic needs.
Dr. Mashael Al-Qahtani, Dean of the College of Dentistry at Umm Al-Qura University, explained that these meetings have a great impact on the colleges in terms of practical and educational aspects, serving students and graduates, and addressing common topics that contribute to qualifying students for the labor market.
