11301 - UQU President visits "Buraidah Dates Carnival" and inspects the university's participating pavilion

His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, visited the Buraydah Dates Festival this Thursday morning. The visit was attended by His Excellency Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Rajiei, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in the region, His Excellency Dr. Fahd Al-Ahmad, Vice President for Educational Affairs, and His Excellency Dr. Saleh Al-Huwayreini, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, at the Dates City in Buraydah.

 

During the visit, His Excellency was briefed on the exhibits and accompanying events at the carnival, in addition to the main date market. He praised the services provided by all carnival staff, its role in boosting the local economy, and its contribution to supporting farmers and marketing national food products. He extended his thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Qassim region, and His Royal Highness Prince Fahd bin Turki bin Faisal bin Turki, Deputy Governor of the Qassim region – may God protect them – for their attention to all activities in the region, including the Date Carnival.

 

During his visit, Al-Dawood also visited the university's “Palm Tree” exhibition, which includes a dedicated section on the university and palm trees. His Excellency listened to an explanation from the Dean of the College about the exhibition's sections and the services it offers to visitors, reflecting the university's commitment to this tree. The exhibition also provides a comprehensive explanation of the university's most important achievements in serving palm trees, including its focus on scientific studies and research related to palm trees, their cultivation, pest control, date processing, varieties, and by-products.
