His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Qassim region, witnessed on Monday, March 27, 2023, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the «Million Volunteer Hours Campaign» between the university, the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in the Qassim region, and the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification in Qassim. This was in the presence of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University. The agreement was signed by His Excellency the Vice President of the University, Dr. Mohammed Al-Saoui, His Excellency the Director of the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in the Qassim region, Eng. Bader Al-Naqeidan, at His Highness's office in the Emirate of the region.

This memorandum stems from the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, in alignment with the launch of the «Saudi Green Initiative» by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince (may God protect him), and as a continuation of the successes of the initiative launched by His Royal Highness the Governor of Al-Qassim Province, «Green Al-Qassim Land.» This partnership has been established to enhance the achievement of these goals, increase the percentage of plant cover and afforestation, improve environmental values, and boost community volunteerism. This will be accomplished through mechanisms and plans that ensure the realization of the objectives set by the environmental initiatives, in addition to the participation of volunteer teams and university staff, male and female students, in planting, and improving plant cover in national parks and university facilities.

His Highness praised the initiative's goals, which contribute to enhancing environmental conservation, emphasizing the importance of involving all government sectors and volunteer teams to make this initiative inclusive of all those wishing to volunteer; in order to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. He noted the efforts made in promoting the cultivation and afforestation of national parks and university campuses, in addition to cleanup campaigns for the region's wild parks, ultimately achieving one million volunteer hours for university staff.

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Mishal confirmed that this partnership is one of the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. It is in line with the "Saudi Green Initiative" and a continuation of the successes of the "Qassim Green Initiative," and it enhances the achievement of environmental goals and values, and increases the proportion of vegetation cover and planting in the Qassim region.

This memorandum aims to enhance joint cooperation between the two parties; achieve integration between them and unify efforts, in order to achieve common benefits by activating volunteer work in the environmental sector through the «Let's Make It Green» initiative to achieve the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

The university and the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in the region seek, through this agreement, to activate avenues of cooperation, believing that effective cooperation towards achieving the message of community partnership and mutual benefits is a national responsibility where everyone's efforts are combined to develop society and humanity, and to achieve the nation's vision of reaching a productive knowledge-based and scientific society.
