His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, launched the university's strategic plan "2020-2025" on Monday, 10/7/1442 AH, after receiving it yesterday morning at his office in the University City, from His Excellency the University Vice President for Planning, Development and Quality, Prof. Khaled bin Bani Al-Harbi, the head of the university's strategic plan team, Dr. Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Tuwaijri, and members of the team.
UQU President blessed the new plan after he received it and viewed a visual presentation on its details, stressing that this plan will help the university to play its developmental role in order to enhance efforts to diversify our national economy and contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development nationally and locally, under a wise leadership that seeks to support the education system and overcome obstacles to make Saudi universities occupy a prominent international position, thanking them for their efforts in preparing it, and praying for success and success for all of them.
The university plan contains twenty strategic initiatives containing ninety strategic projects, and the level of progress in implementing this plan is measured through fifty key strategic performance indicators, as the university seeks to achieve eight strategic goals, namely: Emphasizing the quality of education, raising student merit, enhancing research identity, improving administrative performance, improving technical performance, enhancing income and spending efficiency, completing and developing infrastructure, and enhancing national and international partnership. The university also has four strategic programs with the vice presidents of the university, namely: Education and Student Quality, Research, Innovation and Sustainability, Institutionalization, Governance and Automation, and Finance, Endowment and Assets.
The university's new plan contributes to guiding strategic thinking, decision-making and raising the ceiling of ambitions, through an ambitious vision that leads the university towards national leadership in education, research and sustainability, and effective partnership nationally and internationally, in addition to an inspiring mission that provides the university with educational, professional, research and consulting services that promote sustainable national development and self-sufficiency.
The plan also helps to create an inspiring, governed and effective environment for innovation, technology and partnership, through its commitment to seven core values: Promoting loyalty and belonging, achieving justice, adhering to honesty, supporting transparency, advocating mastery, stimulating innovation, and fostering a culture of teamwork and institutionalization.
The university is one of the first Saudi universities to prepare a strategic plan to define its roles, achieve its goals and chart its future, in addition to being the third Saudi university to obtain institutional accreditation. The university has all the elements of development in its various scientific and professional dimensions; therefore, it followed a precise scientific methodology in preparing this plan and involved a number of its partners in its preparation, and relied on national strategic frameworks, headed by the Kingdom Vision 2030 and the new university system.
