The university, represented by the College of Arabic Language and Social Studies, launched an awareness campaign last Friday, 3/5/1442 AH, to highlight the importance of using Arabic vocabulary in a number of coffee shops in the Qassim region. This initiative is part of the various activities organized by the university on the occasion of the International Day of the Arabic Language, which falls on December 18th of each year.
The campaign distributed over 1445 different items in coffee shops. These included roses, coffee cups, brochures, chocolates, and stickers with various messages encouraging the use of the Arabic language in our daily lives. The lectures and segments presented during the campaign also varied, including a lecture titled “The Arabic Language and Today's Generation,” and an introductory lecture on Arabic language academies, their purpose, locations, mission, and the role they play.
The campaign also raised many educational and awareness-raising questions about the importance of pride in the Arabic language, with various materials encouraging the necessity of reviving speaking Arabic when ordering a cup of coffee, with a notice to remind people of the necessity of speaking Arabic, and materials titled “Speak Arabic” for employees and store visitors.
