The University, represented by the College of Engineering, is preparing to hold its international conference entitled: "Prospects of Solar Energy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Applications and Challenges", which will be held remotely during the period 24-25/4/1442 AH, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Qassim Region.

A number of leading academics, researchers in solar energy applications and industry experts in Saudi Arabia and the world are participating in this conference, with the aim of exchanging experiences in this field, identifying the most prominent challenges facing it and reaching results and solutions to face these challenges, in addition to researching ways to promote and develop promising solar energy technologies to support and achieve the Kingdom's Vision 2030, as well as contributing to the realization of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 objectives in diversifying the current oil-based economy to transform the Kingdom from an advanced oil exporting country to a sustainable energy exporting country, of which solar energy is one of the most prominent and

The conference will address the latest developments in solar energy technologies and applications, such as solar thermal, photovoltaic, and solar architecture: Solar thermal, photovoltaic, and solar architecture, where participants will focus on how to use solar engineering in various applications within academia, government, and industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and benefit from previous experiences in this vital field in a number of countries around the world. 

The activities and sessions of the conference revolve around a number of themes that cover all aspects of utilizing and investing in solar energy, including solar power generation, solar energy storage, solar desalination, solar heating and cooling applications, passive and active applications of solar energy on buildings, solar energy applications in transportation, and management of this clean source of energy in Saudi Arabia, in addition to the theme of solar energy applications in the field of transportation.

This conference is in line with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which aims to support the national economy, reduce dependence on oil, and create awareness of the importance of solar energy as an abundant source of renewable energy in the Kingdom to support the trend towards sustainable sources of clean energy.
