Next month, the College of Design at the university will organize the “Fashion Design and Future Prospects: Challenges, Visions, Creativity, Investment” conference. The aim is to transform the field of fashion design into opportunities for opening new horizons for creativity, investment, and job creation. The conference will be held remotely in accordance with the preventive measures and precautionary procedures taken by the university to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus, during the period from 10–11/4/1442 AH.
The college seeks, through this conference, to foster creativity in textile science and technology. The conference will focus on discussing the latest trends, technological advancements, and innovations in apparel and textile manufacturing, and their impact on job opportunities, while considering social, economic, and environmental requirements. The conference also aims to enhance the contribution of fashion design to achieving the Kingdom's Vision (2030), employing technological formulas to achieve creativity in apparel design and production, as well as the role of fashion design in relation to society, industry, and the economy to invest available resources and market applied research results.
The Fashion Design Conference discusses several key themes in this field. The first theme addresses topics such as: fashion design and sustainable development in the green economy and eco-friendly products, design and production of multi-functional clothing, creative visions for fashion arts, optimal utilization and recycling of products, and documentation of heritage and civilization arts. The second theme covers topics like: fashion design and production technology in nanotechnology and smart textiles and their applications, as well as applications of modern electronic software, in addition to improving productivity to enhance competitiveness, and quality and performance development in the garment industry.
While the third axis of the conference addresses other topics including: fashion design and community service in e-marketing, small and medium-sized enterprises as a driver of development, as well as business incubators in the clothing industry, training and educational programs and their role in serving the community, in addition to fashion design for people with special needs, and marketing applied scientific research and supporting industry.
