College of Veterinary Medicine

Veterinary Medicine

Description:

The Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine program aims to graduate professional cadres enhanced with skills that are compatible with the requirements of the labor market, which contributes to the preservation of livestock and poultry and the protection of humans from common diseases. In addition to the college's role in the field of applied research that deals with developing appropriate solutions to disease issues, the college also has an effective role in the field of community service through the services provided by the veterinary university hospital, veterinary caravans, training courses, workshops and seminars related to animal and bird health and the safety of animal products. The first batch of students was admitted to the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine program at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Al-Qassim in the academic year 1406/1407 AH (1986/1987 AD). The Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine program has been revised three times over the past years, as the study plan began with the coding (veterinary) in 1407 AH, then the coding (medical) in 1423 AH, and the coding (doctor) in 1437 AH, in order to keep pace with the requirements of development in the university and the changes that occur globally in the teaching of veterinary medicine, as well as local and regional developments and requirements. Graduates of the veterinary medicine program have distinguished themselves in all field fields, and large numbers of them have obtained master's and doctoral degrees from the most prestigious international universities, and some of them work as faculty members in the program and various other faculties at Qassim University and other Saudi universities. Development and excellence have been an inherent feature of the veterinary program over the years. The Department of Veterinary Medicine received the Qassim University Award for Research Excellence, and the Department received the University Award for Distinguished Research. Members of the department also participated in most of the relevant local, regional and international scientific forums, which raised the name of the university regionally and internationally. As a result, the program was one of the university's first accredited programs - full national accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment for the period May 2016 - April 2023. The full accreditation was also renewed nationally by the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment for the period January 2025 - December 2029.
