Providing outstanding education, research, services and consultations in the field of diagnosing the causes of animal and common diseases, and supporting the educational and training process for students and veterinary staff in order to enhance animal health, human safety and the environment.
Overview
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Diagnostics is one of the four scientific departments at the College of Veterinary Medicine, which was established according to the decision of the Council of University Affairs No. (24/19/45) in 1445 A.H., corresponding to 2024 A.D. The department has a pivotal role in supporting the educational and research process and serving the community by studying animal diseases and their causes and diagnosing them using the latest laboratory techniques. The department includes a group of specialized and experienced faculty members and is concerned with teaching pathology courses, microbiology courses, parasitology courses, and immunology courses for bachelor's and master's students. The department also contributes to training students in the skills of accurate analysis and diagnosis of animal diseases, preparing them for the labor market in various sectors of veterinary medicine. The department aims to promote and enrich scientific research in the fields of animal diseases, common diseases, and modern techniques to detect and study pathogens. The department also provides scientific and advisory services to governmental and private entities, contributing to raising the level of animal health and food security in the Kingdom
Objectives :
Providing outstanding education in the fields of veterinary pathology and laboratory diagnostics, through the development of curricula, teaching and evaluation methods in line with modern academic standards.
2- Qualifying veterinary medical cadres scientifically and practically in the fields of animal diseases and laboratory diagnostics, in line with the requirements of the labor market.
3- Developing scientific research skills among students and faculty members, and encouraging applied research in the fields of animal diseases, common diseases, and modern diagnostic techniques.
4- Providing consultations and laboratory diagnostic services to the community, contributing to the development of livestock and enhancing food security in the Kingdom.
5- Strengthening local and international partnerships in the scientific and research fields.
6- Instilling professional ethics and social responsibility among students and graduates through practical training.
