Overview
The department is committed to excellence in education, research, clinical service, and community engagement. The department plays a pivotal role in the education of medical students during their third, fourth and fifth years, providing comprehensive training in psychiatry throughout the campus. Our department also promotes community awareness of mental health
Objectives :
- Providing students with basic scientific knowledge in the field of specialization.
- Developing practical and applied skills related to the profession or academic field.
- Promote critical and creative thinking among students.
- Preparing students for the labor market by developing professional and technical skills.
- Instilling professional values and ethics related to the field.
- Encouraging scientific research and participating in research projects.
- Serving the community by providing scientific solutions and community initiatives.
Educational goals:
1. Describe the classification of mental illnesses according to the World Health Organization's International Classification of Diseases.
2. Recognize different psychological disorders and describe their psychopathological characteristics, diagnosis, and clinical outcomes.
3. Interpret medical data from the patient and family to hypothesize an initial diagnosis.
4. Explain the interaction between the psyche and the body in the production of medical complaints and illnesses.
5. Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in personal and professional relationships with psychiatric patients, health workers, and physicians in health care organizations.
6. Demonstrate written and oral communication skills with colleagues, psychiatric patients, health workers, and physicians in health care organizations.
7. Utilize advanced information resources in the psychiatric hospital for better management of psychiatric patients.
8. Safely perform a physical examination and psychiatric examination to identify clinical manifestations of mental illness.
