Overview
The Chemistry Department is one of the leading academic departments in the College of Science. It is concerned with teaching various branches of chemistry (organic, inorganic, analytical, and physical chemistry), with a focus on building a strong scientific foundation for male and female students and preparing them for the job market or postgraduate studies. The department also offers a Master of Science in Chemistry program, which aims to prepare distinguished research cadres who contribute to research and development fields. The department possesses an advanced central laboratory equipped with a number of modern, high-performance instruments, including: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), and other devices, which contribute to supporting advanced research and training activities within the department. The department also contributes to conducting scientific research in multiple fields that serve development priorities and seeks to enhance research and applied cooperation with academic and industrial entities. The Chemistry Department is keen on active participation in community service through the implementation of awareness programs and specialized training workshops. The department is also proud of graduating many qualified national competencies who have occupied distinguished positions in the academic and industrial sectors.

Objectives :
1- Preparing qualified human resources to contribute to educational progress in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
2- Preparing graduates specialized in chemistry at a distinguished level of academic aspects to supply the labor market in the Kingdom with its needs of specialists in various fields.
3- Participating in finding solutions to the local environment and national industries through research and development.
4- Keeping abreast of new developments in the field of scientific research, by holding periodic discussion sessions and workshops to keep abreast of new developments in scientific research.
5- To be an expert body by providing scientific consultations to the concerned authorities and organizing scientific seminars and advanced research seminars in various fields of chemistry.
6- Enhancing the skills of faculty members, auxiliary staff, and employees by holding periodic discussion sessions, workshops, training courses, and participating in local and international scientific seminars and conferences.
7- Meeting the department's needs of faculty members by appointing distinguished faculty members as assistants and scholarship them to obtain master's and doctoral degrees from distinguished universities according to the college's future study plan.
8- Conducting various scientific researches and linking the department to the society and the surrounding environment.
9- Providing chemistry courses to serve other disciplines in the departments of the College of Science, and the faculties of medicine, engineering, agriculture, pharmacy, and education.
10- Encouraging the Arabization of chemistry sciences through translation, authorship, and publication.
