The university advances more than 100 global ranks in the 2026 Shanghai Ranking

Qassim University achieved a new advancement in the 2026 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) (Shanghai Ranking), moving into the global band (701–800) and advancing more than 100 places compared to its 2025 results.

This progress continues the university's presence among the top 1,000 universities globally for the fourth consecutive year, reflecting the continuous development in its research and academic performance, as well as the growth it is witnessing in international competitiveness and excellence indicators.

For his part, the Vice President for Business Development and Community Partnership, Dr. Majid bin Fadhi Al-Anzi, explained that this achievement confirms the continuous development of performance at the university and its endeavor to enhance the quality of its academic and research outputs, and to support its research system, which is reflected in raising the level of its presence in global rankings, in accordance with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in developing the higher education system and elevating the global standing of Saudi universities.

Al-Anzi added that the university has made progress over the past few years in various global university rankings, noting the support and attention that Saudi universities receive from the wise leadership—may God protect them—which had the greatest impact on the university reaching this distinguished position in global rankings. He also expressed his gratitude to the university president, Professor Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Sharikh, for his support and follow-up, as well as to all university leaders and staff for their sincere efforts in developing the work system within the university and achieving high performance rates that placed the university among the top 1,000 universities globally in the Shanghai Ranking.

The Shanghai Ranking (ARWU) measures university performance through a set of academic and research indicators, most notably the distinction of alumni and staff who have won prestigious international awards, highly cited researchers, publication in Nature and Science journals, the volume of globally indexed research, along with a number of other academic performance indicators.
