Qassim University, represented by the Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Chair for Artificial Intelligence, held a symposium titled “Artificial Intelligence: Between Empowerment and Governance” today, Tuesday, September 22, 2026, with the participation of a number of specialists at the main campus in the University City.
The symposium included a lecture titled “Artificial Intelligence: Empowering Decision-Making and Shaping the Future,” presented by Dr. Al-Joharah Al-Melhem, Academic Relations Officer at Humain, in addition to a panel discussion titled “Responsible Artificial Intelligence Governance: Conceptual Foundations and Applied Challenges.”.
The session was participated in by Dr. Dhabia Al-Buainain, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Artificial Intelligence Governance Association; Dr. Sakher bin Khuraif, Senior Research Scientist at Humain; Dr. Mohammed Al-Lhaibi, Assistant Professor at Al-Baha University; and Dr. Ziyad Al-Saeed, Supervisor of the Data Management Office at Qassim University. It was moderated by Dr. Samar bint Nasser Al-Daiji, Supervisor of the Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Chair for Artificial Intelligence.
This symposium comes as part of the chair's efforts to promote awareness of the concepts of responsible artificial intelligence, demonstrate its role in decision-making and shaping the future, and highlight the governance frameworks and applied challenges associated with employing its technologies. The symposium also emphasizes the importance of building a knowledge ecosystem that contributes to guiding innovation toward safe, reliable, and sustainable solutions that serve society and the national knowledge-based economy.
