A specialized medical team at the Buraydah Medical City of Qassim University successfully performed a classic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery using advanced laparoscopy and minimally invasive techniques. The procedure was for a beneficiary who had suffered for years from chronic complications, difficulty swallowing, and severe esophageal reflux.
The medical team was led by Dr. Hatem bin Ahmed Al-Suleim, consultant in advanced and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for digestive system surgeries and corrective bariatric surgeries, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Fahid, consultant in advanced and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. The anesthesiology team, including Dr. Sameh Hassan and Dr. Ahmed Al-Nouri, participated as part of an integrated work system. The precise surgical intervention included the repair of a diaphragmatic hernia and a classic gastric bypass, with an upper endoscopy of the esophagus and stomach to ensure the accuracy of the procedure.
This surgical decision came after years of suffering, during which all therapeutic and medicinal attempts failed, leading to the surgical solution as a corrective option. Thanks to God, the operation was crowned with complete success without any complications.
In her post-operative medical review, the beneficiary expressed her happiness with the disappearance of all previous accompanying symptoms, confirming her ability—for the first time in years—to live her life normally.
For his part, the medical team emphasized the importance of the post-operative phase, stressing the need for the beneficiary to adhere to regular follow-up, comply with medical and dietary instructions, and maintain a healthy lifestyle to ensure the best sustainable therapeutic results.
This medical success reflects the level of development and readiness of the specialized medical services provided by the Medical City, and it also demonstrates the efficiency of its staff in dealing with delicate and complex surgical cases in the field of bariatric surgery and its associated complications.
