Engineer Saleh Al-Dala'a, Director of the Services and Maintenance Department at the university, revealed the university's intention to plant and cultivate the student parking lots in the university city, due to the environmental and health benefits, and to save expenses for the university. The project began by cultivating the Sharia College parking lots as a first phase, with more than 500 various trees, including: "Caesalpinia, Ficus, and Albizia," and the rest of the college parking lots are being completed.
"Al-Dala'a" indicated that an irrigation network for the tree basins has been implemented to ensure the continuity of water for this project. Trees have also been planted along Road (101) at the university and surrounding areas, covering an area of 10,000 square meters, with some locations being completed. Beautification works are underway, such as stone cladding and repainting of sidewalks and speed bumps in the university city. He added that 400 palm trees have been planted near the sports hall, and a number of locations and roads are being completed. Furthermore, 3,000 various citrus trees, including lemons, oranges, and tangerines, have been secured for planting near the administrative building and some colleges.
"Al-Dalea" added that a contractor has been commissioned to dig a well for the gymnasium and housing to provide them with water, as well as for the existing green spaces. The university is striving to expand its green areas, increase the rate of afforestation, and give continuous attention to it. This comes as a result of the continuous support we receive from His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, the University President, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Saowi, the Vice President, for the Services and Maintenance Department to carry out its work and the notable attention to the development and advancement of the agricultural sector at the university.
