The College of Architecture and Planning is preparing to start implementing an external summer training program for students in the field of architecture in Dickson, Malaysia, for a period of 8 weeks with the participation of 13 undergraduate students, under the supervision of the famous Malaysian architect Azman Mohammed, where the program will be an application of the idea of design and implementation of the architectural project (design-build method), with the aim of providing an appropriate educational environment and identifying the latest methods and means of designing and implementing the architectural project, the materials used, environmental and structural sciences, with the aim of providing an appropriate educational environment and learning about the latest methods and means of designing and implementing the architectural project.
During the program, the architectural practice that is taught and explained thoroughly for each stage and level will also be practiced in a comprehensive way through the "studio", an architectural studio that enables students to perceive the architectural design process by zooming in and seeing the organizational complexities of these details.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed bin Ali bin Daajam, Vice Dean of the College of Architecture and Planning, said that by the end of this program, the participating students will gain the ability to respond, interact and formulate the architectural program for any site, in addition to maximizing the role of scientific research and rooting it through believing in the importance of benefiting from previous designs and studies.
He added that research has become an integral part of the design process and is one of the basics of this type of participation, in addition to applying appropriate design strategies to the built and surrounding environment, recognizing the most challenging issues related to architectural design, as well as exploring and formulating the relationship between building materials and the environment, noting that the students' application of all of the above will enable them to obtain a comprehensive vision of the architectural design process through real and professional field work to develop their ability to communicate their ideas verbally and graphically through drawings, models, digital media, and writing.
He pointed out that the support the college receives from the university administration for such qualitative programs would raise the level and outputs of the college and help students compete and upgrade the specialization in the labor market, and contribute to achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 by preparing a promising generation that contributes to pushing the wheel of development professionally and competently.
