The university team won the cup for the Saudi Universities Sports Federation Futsal Championship, within the competitions of the sixth gathering of university federation championships, which was held in the sports halls at the university headquarters, under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federation's Board of Directors, Dr. Ahmed Al-Eissa, and with the participation of 25 universities and colleges from all over the Kingdom. The university team repeated its achievement for the second time in the history of the championship, which is held for the fourth consecutive time. Jazan University team came in second place, Taibah University came in third place, while Hail University settled for fourth place in the championship.
The President of the Universities Union, Dr. Abdullah Al-Baqmi, accompanied by Dr. Ali Al-Aqla, Dean of Student Affairs at the university, and Dr. Fahd Al-Dalea, Vice Dean for Activities, presented the first-place trophy and gold medals to the winning teams. Chief among them was the team from Qassim University, which defeated the team from Hail University 6-1 in the final match on Saturday morning in the sports hall at the university city. This victory crowned them as champions of the fourth edition of the Football (Futsal) Championship, which the university hosted for four days from March 26-29.
The national team players began their training for the tournament about two full months ago, following the conclusion of the internal university futsal sports activity, which was won by the College of Education and participated in by 23 colleges. Subsequently, the members of the team representing the university team were selected by the officials of the university's sports activity.
The draw placed the university team in Group C along with King Saud University, Umm Al-Qura University, and Shaqra University. The team secured first place in the group after winning all three of their matches, with results of 2-1 against King Saud University, 2-0 against Umm Al-Qura University, and 4-0 against Shaqra University. The team then advanced to the Round of 16 to face the team from Mohamed bin Fahd University, defeating them with a score of 5-2. They proceeded to the quarter-finals and played against Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, winning 2-0. In the semi-finals of the tournament, they defeated Hail University with a score of 3-2. They then advanced to the tournament final where they faced Jazan University and defeated them 6-1, winning the championship cup.
