College of Languages and Humanities Organizes "International Translation Day 2024"

The College of Languages and Humanities held the «International Translation Day 2024» forum today, Monday, by organizing a number of scientific seminars and specialized workshops, in addition to an accompanying exhibition featuring 28 student booths, at the main campus in the university city.

The forum aims, through scientific seminars and workshops, to provide college students with science and knowledge in the field of translation and the role of the translator, and to introduce students of the English Language and Literature department to post-graduation tracks that open horizons for graduates of this department. In addition, it will recognize the efforts of university students in the field of translation through the accompanying exhibition. Twenty-eight male and female students participated in the exhibition with various translated works, such as short excerpts discussing the Renaissance that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing to achieve Vision 2030.

The forum introduced the Professional Guide, which is one of the models that male and female translators should be familiar with. Additionally, there was a dialogue session on the translation of Saudi folklore. The forum also included scientific seminars that discussed “The Translator's Passion: The Presence of Passion in Translators' Prefaces," "The Multiplicity of Translation Media and the Role of the Translator," and "Translation in Service of the Nation." Specialized workshops discussed medical translation and simultaneous interpretation. The number of attendees at this forum exceeded 400 students of both genders and faculty members.
