On Wednesday evening, the University and the General Investigations Prison of the State Security Presidency in Buraydah celebrated the graduation of the first batch of diploma and higher diploma students from the prison in the presence of His Excellency the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, a number of directors of the security sectors in the region, deans of the concerned colleges, and parents of the graduates, at the prison headquarters in Buraydah. The first batch of prison inmates included 26 graduates of diplomas in three specializations, namely: Social Research, Human Resources Diploma, and Sales Diploma. The ceremony included several paragraphs that started with the royal salute and recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, in addition to showing a film that tells the impact of attendance on their academic achievement, as well as a film about the university and the experience of attendance education inside prisons as the first university at the regional level to offer this type of education inside prisons at the diploma stage, and the first university to offer postgraduate programs globally. This initiative came as a result of concerted efforts between the university and the Presidency of State Security, represented by the General Investigation Prison in Buraidah, to rehabilitate and develop inmates in the Investigation Prison by providing university education services in various scientific degrees to become the first of its kind in the Kingdom and the world, thus realizing the national mission of the two entities, which reflects the interest of the wise leadership in caring for education and providing it to all segments and different groups of society.
