Qassim University has introduced three new diploma programs in health specialties to be added to the Applied College programs. This comes after the university received approval for these programs and their classification by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. Applications for these new specializations will open during the upcoming admission period.
The new programs include the "Patient Care Technician Program," which will train technical support staff for hospital nursing teams by providing them with essential skills needed for patient care in various healthcare settings, whether for outpatient clinic visitors or inpatients. Additionally, there is the "Dental Assistant Program," which qualifies its graduates to assist dentists in providing patient care during clinical examinations and administrative tasks by managing patient information and assisting with the preparation of instruments and dental procedures.
The newly developed programs include the "Medical Sterilization" program, which trains technical competencies in sterilization, specializing in the sterilization of medical instruments, equipment, and devices in the Central Sterilization Services Department of hospitals. This ensures the availability of sterilized, reusable medical devices and equipment, knowledge of how to handle and maintain them, and proper storage methods while guaranteeing the application of the highest safety standards.
It is noted that the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties has classified these programs and their outputs into the tracks of "Patient Care Technician," "Dental Assistant," and "Sterilization Technician.".
