His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim Region, stressed that the numbers and achievements achieved by Qassim University raise the head and honor the region and reflect the size of the leadership's gifts and its interest in building the human being of this country in all its parts.
This came during his visit to the university on Monday morning in the presence of students and employees of the university, where he was briefed on its projects inside the university city: "I am delighted on this day to be among you, and how pleased I am to be in the presence of a factory of men and distinguished sisters, and how pleased I am to see such achievements as numbers, indicators and achievements that we raise the head and honor us all.
His Highness praised the university administration led by Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Hamoudi, the university president, who made these numbers as competent men of the nation with the contribution of successful female colleagues. His Highness considered Qassim University a group of universities under the umbrella of one university, expressing his delight in seeing more than 70 thousand male and female students receiving their education in 38 colleges spread throughout Qassim, which is a cause for pride and pride, stressing that this was not achieved without the success of God Almighty and then thanks to the generous support of this wise government and this unlimited support that has continued over the past decades without hesitation with full conviction and firm belief that education is the real investment of this country.
His Highness went on to say : The leader of this country, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has bet and is betting that education is the real and optimal investment to find mature minds to build this country developmentally and scientifically, and this is what we seek in the region in terms of realizing the aspirations of the leadership. His Highness said : "My visit to the university today is a natural extension of the interest of your father, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, who always recommends us to pay attention to you, support universities, support the education sector and stand by it with everything we can because this is a strategic goal and aspiration for this country to rise to the ranks of advanced countries to present its sons and daughters as a distinguished model among the students of the world." He praised the numbers achieved by the university, which comes thanks to God and then the attention of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, offering his thanks and appreciation to the University President Dr. Khaled Al-Hamoudi and his colleagues and university employees, faculty members, administrators, students and female staff for their efforts that resulted in the achievement of the university's success.
For his part, His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Khaled Al-Hamoudi, welcomed His Highness the Emir of the region to the university and said: On this blessed day, the university is honored to celebrate the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Qassim region, and I am pleased on this occasion on behalf of myself and the university staff and students to congratulate you on the royal trust that you are worthy of by appointing you as Emir of Qassim region, asking the Almighty to provide you with his help and success, stressing at the same time to work with Your Highness in a team spirit to serve the region and the country.
His Excellency added: The University looks with gratitude and appreciation for your support, follow-up of its activities and sponsorship of many of its events. In this regard, the University does not forget to extend its thanks and appreciation to your predecessor, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Riyadh Region, for the support and care he provided to the University during his tenure as Emir of Qassim Region, for which you and he have our thanks and appreciation.
His Excellency continued: The University of Qassim, thanks to God and then the support of our wise government, has become one of the major universities in the Kingdom. It started with seven colleges and in just ten years, the number of its colleges reached thirty-eight colleges in which about seventy thousand male and female students study and offer 144 bachelor's programs, 62 master's programs and 12 doctoral programs and spread throughout the region, praise and thanks be to God.
The university has been keen to provide university education for male and female students in all disciplines while ensuring the quality and excellence defined by the university's vision, which emphasizes that Qassim University is nationally distinguished in education, supporting sustainable development in Qassim and contributing to building a knowledge society. By the grace of God and then the generous support of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, this vision was realized within a few years of the university's life. The university obtained academic institutional accreditation from the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation as the third public university in the Kingdom to obtain this achievement, and some colleges obtained international academic accreditation, while the university continues to complete its projects within the plan of cities and university suburbs.
In order to achieve the university's vision of community service, a Center for Sustainable Development was established several years ago, whose mission is to study the reality and foresee the developmental future of the region through scientific and field research. This center is made all the more honorable by the fact that Your Highness chairs its advisory board, and the university believes in the importance of this center and its pioneering role. On the occasion of this visit, I am pleased to announce the allocation of three million riyals to be spent during the next three years at the rate of one million riyals annually in support of this center to perform its research and scientific mission in the best way in coordination with Your Highness to determine the research priorities according to the following cases.
The President of Qassim University also extended the highest thanks and great gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz for his continuous support for higher education and its aspirations. He also extended his thanks and appreciation to the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz and thanks to the Deputy Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God protect them all, for their continuous support for higher education and its directions. He also extended his thanks and appreciation to the Emir of Qassim Region for his constant encouragement of the university and its activities and thanks to His Excellency the Education Minister Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil, wishing him success
Dr. Fatima bint Muhammad Al-Furaihi, Dean of the College of Designs and Home Economics in Buraidah, delivered a speech in which she praised the leadership of the university and extended the thanks and appreciation of all university staff to His Highness for his follow-up and his constant contribution to the advancement of the university.
A visual report on the university's progress was also presented, including figures and indicators prepared by the university's media center before His Highness toured the university city and the university's central library, where he was briefed on its contents in the presence of the Dean of Libraries, Dr. Yousef Al-Rijai, who presented His Highness with a "special yoser" for the digital library that allows him to access and view books and research databases.
His Highness also inspected existing and new projects, where the Director of Projects and Maintenance Department, Engineer Sulaiman Al Faridi, explained and clarified the projects in the field, as well as displaying the projects through modern technological displays.
At the end, the UQU President presented to His Highness a commemorative plaque and an artwork prepared by the students of the College of Designs and Home Economics in Buraydah, in addition to the university bag, which includes a set of books and publications issued by the university.
