Participants recommended the workshop on measuring the unemployment rate, which was organized by Qassim University represented by the College of Economics and Administration last Wednesday under the title "Measuring the unemployment rate : Economic and Social Importance" under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Hamoudi, and in the presence of
Prof. Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Omar, Vice President of the University, with the participation of a group of specialists who recommended a number of important recommendations, namely the importance of
Reducing the gap between official bodies and private sector organizations to create integrated statistics on supply and demand to enable citizens to work
In addition to the need to emphasize the activation of the employment strategy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by emphasizing the achievement of special strategic goals and working to create real job opportunities.
The participants also emphasized the importance of developing a long-term manpower plan that attempts to link the outputs of the educational and training systems with the needs of the labor market in the Kingdom within the framework of a development plan that achieves harmonization between education and training policies and Saudization policies, as well as activating the National Statistics Observatory to create a wide database, with the Department of Statistics and Information becoming the official body in issuing official data on the labor market.
Prioritizing females in the areas of employment and the needs of the labor market and the need to enact regulatory legislation.
In addition to educating members of society about the concept of unemployment and how to answer the questions included in the labor force surveys, emphasizing on changing their cultures in the positive perception of the value of work, in addition to paying attention to small and medium enterprises and their role in creating new jobs while looking for the establishment of development companies that provide new job opportunities, finding economic visions that take into account the structure of the labor market and its localization in each region, and working to qualify the human element and make it able to innovate to make the Saudi economy competitive, calling on the Ministry of Labor to coordinate with the Economic and Development Council to emphasize that unemployment solutions can only be achieved by combining efforts with each other.
The workshop was opened with a speech by Dr. Ali Al-Noodle, Vice Dean of the College of Economics and Administration for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, in which he thanked His Excellency the UQU President for sponsoring this workshop and the participating university vice presidents and brothers involved in the success of this workshop, stressing that, based on the university's mission and values, its role does not stop at graduating male and female students only, but goes beyond it to work to participate with other parties in employing a segment dear to the hearts of all, pointing out that the university has always been concerned with this matter and giving it special priority, indicating that the workshop comes in response to the mission of the university represented by the College of Economics and Administration.
The first session was titled "Unemployment: Concept, Reality and Challenges: An Analytical Study in the Kingdom (2010-2014)" was chaired by Dr. Abdullah Al-Baridi, Professor at the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Administration, and was addressed by Dr. Ihsan Bouhleika, an economist and former member of the Shura Council. Ehsan Bouhleika, an economist and former member of the Shura Council, and Dr. Mutasim Abdulmawla, associate professor at the Department of Economics and Finance, Faculty of Economics and Administration.
The second session was titled "Unemployment Indicators: Reliability and Relevance", chaired by Dr. Ahmed Saleh Al-Tuwaijri, Professor of Marketing at Buraydah Technical College, and addressed by Mohammed Fahad Al-Issa, Director of the Ministry's Branch in the Labor Office in Qassim, Mr. Turki Hamad Al-Quraini from the Department of Statistics and Information, and Engineer Barjas Al-Barjas, a consultant on economic issues.
The third session was titled "Future Trends to Address Unemployment and Challenges" and was moderated by Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Kabir, in which Mr. Saleh Al-Humaidan, Chairman of the Eastern Chamber of Commerce Committee, and Mr. Ali bin Saleh Al-Jabali, Assistant Secretary General for Executive Affairs at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, spoke
